I-95/395 WEEKEND HOV LANE CLOSURES
HOV Lanes Open During Daytime Hours
This Friday night, Dec. 19, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes on I-395/95 from the Pentagon to the end at Dumfries Road (Route 234), beginning at 11 p.m., through 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20. The lanes will open heading south and close at 2 p.m. for reversal operations before heading north for the remainder of the day. The HOV lanes will close again Saturday night at 11 p.m., through 8 a.m. Sunday morning, Dec. 21, and reopen to traffic heading in the northbound direction. All closures are weather dependent.
During the above mentioned closures contractors will continue finishing work on overhead signs, and fiber optics for the 95 Express lanes facility.
NORTHBOUND I-395 LANE CLOSURES AT SEMINARY ROAD,
Temporary lane closures each night Friday, Dec. 19 through Tuesday, Dec. 23
In the overnight hours Friday, Dec. 19 through Tuesday, Dec. 23, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close multiple lanes of I-395 North at Seminary Road for bridge demolition. Motorists should expect delays.
All traffic on I-395 North must exit at the Seminary Road exit (exit 4), and will be detoured across Seminary Road and back to I-395 North. Advance message signs will be posted to alert motorists to the temporary traffic configuration and police will direct traffic at the ramps. This work is weather permitting, and all lanes will reopen at 4:30 a.m.

On Sunday, December 14 the new roadway improvements for the 95 Express Lanes opened, including:
- Nine-mile extension from Dumfries to Garrisonville Road
- Third lane from Prince William Parkway to the vicinity of Edsall Road on I-395
- All new entry and exit points
From December 14 - 28, when the new capacity is open, HOV rules will continue to be in effect. The HOV regulatory signs will remain in place and dynamic message signs (DMS) will communicate the HOV rules.

General Lane Closure Info
The Lane Closure Bulletin provides commuters like you a weekly heads-up on what to expect around major construction areas in the Northern Virginia area. It lets you know about closures related to the I-95 Express Lanes project, the Dulles Metrorail project, the I-95 Shoulder Improvement project, and any other notable construction-related closures in the region.
While much of the Virginia Megaprojects' construction takes place behind barriers, lane closures are necessary at certain times. Generally no lane closures will occur during rush hours - 5 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays. Nighttime closures occur between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and between 11 p.m. and 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights unless otherwise noted. Daytime closures occur Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and Friday between 9:30 a.m. and noon unless otherwise noted.
95 Express Lanes project- Northbound Daytime closures occur Monday through Thursday between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and Friday between 9 a.m. and noon unless otherwise noted.
95 Express Lanes Project Southbound Daytime closures occur Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., and Friday between 8 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. unless otherwise noted.
