LANE CLOSURE HOURS ADJUSTED ON I-495 NORTH SHOULDER PROJECT
Work to begin later to accommodate peak morning travel
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced today that they are revising the lane closure schedule on the I-495 Shoulder-Use project to help minimize impacts to the morning commute. Lane closures on I-495 North, from just south of Old Dominion Drive (Express Lanes merge area) to the George Washington Parkway, will not occur for construction until 10 a.m., rather than 9:30 a.m. Additionally, VDOT and its contractor, will continue to make every effort to accomplish a large portion of work during nighttime hours, when traffic is typically lighter.
