Draft 495 Express Lanes corridor-wide landscaping plan available

ALEXANDRIA — The Virginia Department of Transportation released the Draft 495 Express Lanes Corridor-wide Landscape Plan today, May 17, for review and comment. The plan covers the entire 14-mile Express Lanes Project corridor from Braddock Road (Route 620) to just north of the Dulles Toll Road (Route 267). All plantings will occur in VDOT right-of-way.

The Virginia General Assembly with support from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors allocated $5 million in funding to prepare and implement the corridor-wide plan. Citizens can view the plan online at www.VAmegaprojects.com.

Comments can be submitted online at info@VAmegaprojects.com or via first-class mail, sent attention to, Larry O. Cloyed, VDOT Senior Project Manager, 6363 Walker Lane, Suite 500, Alexandria, VA 22310. Comments will be accepted until June 22, 2012.

Once all comments are received and reviewed a final corridor-wide landscape plan will be made available online. The finalized plan will be prepared for advertisement later this year with plantings occurring in spring 2013.
