FHWA seeks comments on I-95 HOV access ramp in Newington

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is preparing plans for the construction of a single-lane reversible ramp connecting the Army’s Fort Belvoir Engineer Proving Ground (EPG) directly to I-95. Two new bridges are proposed as part of the ramp.

The proposed ramp would connect the I-95 HOV slip ramp to Heller Road within the Fort Belvoir North Area. Today, the HOV slip ramp carries vehicles from northbound I-95 HOV lanes to the northbound general purpose lanes of I-95.

The FHWA has prepared an environmental document and comments may be sent to Mr. Kurt Dowden, FHWA, 21400 Ridgetop Circle, Sterling, VA 20166 or to Kurt.Dowden@fhwa.dot.gov by July 8, 2009.
