Cross County Trail Closed at Difficult Run

Construction of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project has closed a section of the Cross County Trail at Difficult Run to allow workers to continue building a new bridge for the tracks that will carry the trains over the trail, located between Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts and Hunter Mill Road.

Tracks will run in the median of the Dulles International Airport Access Highway and the Dulles Toll Road.

Trail users should avoid the trail in this area for safety reasons because there is no detour. Anyone in the trail area should obey all posted signs.

The project's design build contractor Dulles Transit Partners has been working with the Fairfax County Park Authority on plans for the closing. The Park Authority in April said the trail was being closed. When the rail bridge is completed, the Park Authority will start a previously planned improvement and resurfacing on the trail.
