Gallows Road lanes shifted over I-495

ALEXANDRIA—VDOT shifted all lanes Gallows Road (Route 650) traffic on the new bridge over I-495. 

For the next 12-18 months, motorists will have one southbound lane on the bridge rather than two lanes.  Motorists should expect 10- to 15-minute delays during the afternoon rush. 

Once traffic is on the new bridge, Verizon will spend a few weeks moving utility lines from the old bridge. Then night work begins to demolish the old bridges. There will be lane closures and detours in this area throughout the spring and summer. Once the demolition is complete, work will begin to rebuild a new northbound bridge.
