I-495 north exit to Braddock Road will close weekend of April 16

ALEXANDRIA— Beginning at 9:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the I-495 north exit ramp to Braddock Road (Route 620) westbound until 5 a.m. Monday, April 19, to allow construction crews to relocate utilities. Police will be on site to direct traffic.

Following this closure, three more weekend-long exit ramp closures will be needed to complete the relocation:

  • Braddock Road westbound to I-495 north 9:30 p.m. Friday, April 30 through 5 a.m. Monday, May 3
  • I-495 north to Braddock Road westbound 9:30 p.m. Friday, May 7 through 5 a.m. Monday, May 10
  • Braddock Road westbound to I-495 north 9:30 p.m. Friday, May 14 through 5 a.m. Monday, May 17

Braddock Road motorists may encounter delays approaching the I-495 interchange especially during peak day and evening hours.  Should inclement weather delay the work the ramp closures will be rescheduled. This work is part of the Capital Beltway High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes Project.

  • At the Dulles Toll Road, there are over 70 new or rebuilt overpasses that link to the beltway and 495 Express Lanes, Jan. 30, 2012.
