Northbound I-95 paving to close multiple lanes


Motorists urged to use reversible HOV lanes as alternate route

ALEXANDRIA — Beginning Sunday night, May 2, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close two lanes on northbound I-95 between Exit 161 (Route 1) and Exit 166 (Fairfax County Parkway /Route 7100). Closures will occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursdays as crews repair bridge joints for the next six weeks.

After 10:30 p.m. the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes will be open to all northbound traffic overnight as an alternate route. Motorists can use these lanes to get around the work area with minimal delays.

Crews will close the first northbound lane at Exit 161 at 9:30 p.m. The second northbound lane will close at 10:30 p.m. All lanes will open by 5 a.m.
