Orange Cones, No Phones: Distracted Driving Safety Campaign
In normal driving conditions, drivers using cell phones are four times more likely to be in a crash. There’s even less room for error when traveling in a construction zone. Along the Capital Beltway, nearly one-in-four drivers read or write a text message while driving, and those who report texting while driving are 20 times as likely to have had a near miss or a traffic incident while distracted.
When driving through the Capital Beltway HOT Lanes work zone, remember to keep your eyes on the road and off your phone. Orange Cones. No Phones.
