Right lane of Route 7 west closes for this weekend

The right lane of westbound Leesburg Pike (Route 7) will be closed from just west of Spring Hill Road to just west of Tyco Road beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, through 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1.

The other two lanes of westbound Route 7 will remain open. Turns will be permitted to and from Route 7 and Tyco Road. The Spring Hill Road intersection will remain open.

If crews complete the work ahead of schedule, the lanes will be opened at that point.

The closure is necessary to allow Dulles Rail construction crews to relocate a water line. This work is critical for upcoming lane shifts that are still scheduled for the remainder of Route 7.

Police will be onsite for motorist safety during the nighttime hours. Drivers are cautioned to drive carefully and pay attention to signage all along Route 7 east and west.

The Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project is a 23-mile extension of Metro's existing Orange Line. The project is managed and owned by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. The design-build construction contractor is Dulles Transit Partners.
