ARLINGTON BLVD AT I-495 CLOSED OVERNIGHT FEB. 17-22
Expect overnight detours
ALEXANDRIA—Beginning at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 through Tuesday, Feb. 22, all lanes of Arlington Boulevard (Route 50) east and west under the Capital Beltway in Merrifield will close each night for bridge beam placement according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. weekdays by 7 a.m. on Saturday and by 9 a.m. Sunday.
Through traffic traveling eastbound on Route 50 will be detoured to Gallows Road (Route 650), to Lee Highway (Route 29), to Fairview Park Drive, back to Route 50 east. Route 50 east traffic exiting onto I-495 north will be directed to use the above detour. Route 50 east traffic exiting onto I-495 south will remain open.
Through traffic traveling westbound on Route 50 will be detoured to Fairview Park Drive, to Lee Highway (Route 29), to Gallows Road (Route 650), back to Route 50 west. Route 50 west traffic exiting onto I-495 south will be directed to use the above detour. Route 50 west traffic exiting onto I-495 north will remain open.

Motorists should expect overnight delays around the Route 50/I-495 interchange. VDOT urges motorists familiar with the area to use alternate routes. This work is part of the Capital Beltway High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes Project
