Wakefield Park pedestrian bridge closing Tuesday-Friday
The
Wakefield Park pedestrian bridge will close Tuesday – Friday, Oct. 19-22, to allow construction crews to place the bridge on permanent risers and to reconnect the access ramps on the outer loop side.
Crews are raising the bridge approximately two feet and extending it by 30 feet. They are adding a new access ramp to the bridge from the Wakefield Park side.
The Capital Beltway HOT Lanes project team has built a temporary access ramp to keep the bridge open while the bridge extension and modifications are underway.
Construction crews are continuing to work on raising the bridge and building a permanent access ramp.
Once the temporary ramp structure is repositioned the bridge will reopen to users with the permanent access ramp scheduled for completion and ready for service in late October.
